Sycamore Tree
SYCAMORE TREE
Sycamore Tree: Common Name: Sycamore. Genus: Acer. Species: pseudoplatanus. Cultivar: ‘Spaethii’. Exposure: Full sun, Partial shade. Soil type: Any reasonable soil. Height: 15m. Spread: 8m.
This tree is effective in exposed, windy sites as the underneath of the foliage is purple. It tolerates air pollution and thrives in most soils, and is particularly useful for coastal sites where it can make an effective defence against strong winds and salt-laden air. Autumn colour is dramatic and the ornamental quality of this tree can certainly lift a drab landscape.
Common Name: Sycamore. Genus: Acer. Species: pseudoplatanus. Cultivar: ‘Simon-Louis Freres’. Exposure: Full sun, Partial shade. Soil type: Any reasonable soil. Height: 6m. Spread: 8m.
Acer ‘Simon-Louis Freres’ is a handsome, spreading variety of ‘Sycamore’ with beautiful young leaves, marked creamy-white and pink. The older foliage turns pale green with irregular white markings to create a pleasing effect. Makes a good park or lawn specimen. Non-evergreen.
